Sorry, but I have to correct you there; 3DGO is definitely much more
expensive than LW (think about $8K, or more if you want IK, metaballs,
particles or NURBS), and hasn't got either lensflares or glow, not even as a
plugin (raytracing only), and the rendering is *SSLLOOOOWWW* (although very
crisp and realistic, especially the glass). I think until ElectroGIG lowers
their price (which they won't, because int the workstation market they're
already the lowest priced "professional" package) LW can definitely be
competitive, especially if 5.0 is as good as some people suggest (and I hope).

I say: GO FOR IT ON THE SUN MARKET! NewTek People!
(Just today worked for the first time on a Sun, an UltraSparc 1, and it's
quite a cool machine)
